Star Silk Screen Company started as a 2-man strong back yard operation specializing in silkscreen printing.

Star Silk Screen Singapore Pte Ltd was incorporated and started operation from its first production facility.

Star Silk Screen Singapore diversified its services from silkscreen printing to provide below-the-line (BTL) marketing solutions including the design and manufacturing of point-of-sales materials and displays.

Expand Exhibits Singapore, a wholly owned subsidiary, specializing in event and exhibition designs, as well as portable display equipments, was formed.

StarMedia International was formed to lead the company's regional expansion plans. Operation capabilities were established in Thailand, Indonesia and China over the next 4 years.
In the same year, The Media Connection (TMC), a subsidiary specializing in outdoor media advertising was established.

Penguin Asia Pte Ltd, a joint venture with a leading European portable display company, was formed. Penguin Asia is the solely distributor of the renowned Penguin display system in the Asia Pacific region.

StarMedia International began operations in Malaysia, and Japan.
